I don’t even know what “sanctions” mean anymore. Every time there’s news that the U.S. is imposing “sanctions” on another nation, the description is so vague that I almost feel like they’re just saying that to look tough. Like the kid who acts all tough and says, “I’ll kick your ass!”, or “I’ll f**k you up!”, but just puffs his chest and doesn’t actually do anything.
In this article, they say the companies being sanctioned, but never actually say what the sanctions are or what they do. Last spring the U.S. was slapping Russia in the face with sanctions, and then they shot down a Malaysia Airlines flight. It doesn’t seem like sanctions actually do anything. Apparently the only way this government acts is when our journalists start getting beheaded overseas.
