Taylor Swift Trademarks Her Lyrics

We’re not going to pretend these lyrics are anything special. The same girl who sang “Teardrops On My Guitar” is now trademarking lyrics such as, “this sick beat” and “we never go out of style”. To be completely honest, those aren’t exactly clever lyrics in the first place. Anyone could have come up with that, and on my scale of my scale of judging lyrics, that makes them kind of stupid. If the lyrics were unbelievably unique, then I wouldn’t have an issue. But they’re not.

It’s also worth noting that Taylor Swift didn’t even write most of the lyrics on this album. Every track was cowritten, which in this particular case means they were pretty much written by, either Ryan Tedder (OneRepublic), Jack Antonoff (fun., Bleachers), or Martin Shellback. I don’t think you should be allowed to trademark someone else’s work, but that’s just me.
