UPDATED: Tom Delonge Making Book Soundtracks Is Ridiculous…Unless They’re Any Good

UPDATE: So there was an Instagram post embedded above, but Tommy boy deleted it. Depicting a bumper sticker that read, “read a fucking book”, the caption read,”One of the reasons all this Blink stuff went haywire was because I am in 6 contracts with Best Selling Authors that are co-writing 15 Novels with me personally. Each one has an EP soundtrack that launches with it,” DeLonge explained on Instagram. “I told my manager the contract that was sent to me for the Blink deal contained weird new language that I had to drop all that music for almost a year. I said I couldn’t, but I could record the album in and around those things that were already in the works. He wrote them an email saying I’m out- (I didn’t know- and he was only talking about the deal) next thing you know, a press release saying things I didn’t say. Here we are….. Well…. Read a fucking book- at least one of mine, please.”

END OF UPDATE.

Aw, Tom! Why Delonge face?

Puns aside, “#DelongeGate”, as everyone besides everyone who’s not me (me) has come to call this saga, continues.

1. Okay, so you’re under contract. You were also under contract to play the Musink Festival (tonight), which is run by one of your longtime friends, and you squirmed your way out of that one.

2. Okay, then call up your two longtime friends and band mates instead of mentioning them in a tweet

and talk through the miscommunication. Then kiss and make up.

3. Why the hell are you making soundtracks for a books? The type of people who read books usually don’t also listen to punk rock.

“John, don’t you read books?”

“I only read one book for that class I was supposed to read one per week. I got an A. Otherwise, I read about four books a year. That math works out to be about a book every three months (12/4=3). I read the book in about two weeks, then bring it up in conversation for the next two and a half months to creative the illusion that I’m a sophisticated individual who does more than blog about music and make dick jokes with friends.”

“Oh.”

So if I were to guess, there’s Strange Times, which AVA fans have known about for years, another unnamed AVA album (possibly a book soundtrack?) the To The Stars solo album (that song “New World” blows) and another unnamed solo album (another book soundtrack?). Jeez, this guy does have a lot going on.

But I still think he needs to have a face-to-face meeting with Mark and Travis.

Make Blink, not books.

I actually want to hear this really bad. I haven’t destroyed anything in a while.
