Despite the original notions that the Santa Clara and Chicago shows would be the end, the Dead have instead enlisted King John, whom Fitzy knows as the best guitarist of our generation, to fill the void left by Jerry Garcia.
Of course this makes sense. Bob Weir was actually a guest when John Mayer hosted the Late Late Show this past February, here’s the two of them crushing “Althea”:
I’m not a huge Grateful Dead fan at all, so I probably won’t be in attendance, but I’d recommend this show to Dead fans who don’t know John Mayer. He can sing (obviously), but it’s his guitar playing that should be the attraction. After all, he is the best guitarist of this generation.
