I’m not the only one who’s pissed about this. If there’s one person in the music world that loves to rant more than anything (besides making most of my favorite music), who do you think that is?
That’s right! The self-proclaimed gold medalist of taking drugs in England, Noel Gallagher! Of course he had something to say about this whole catastrophe:
“Unfortunately, it won’t make shit albums any better, will it? They’ll still sound shit on a fucking Friday.”
Noel: 1 ; Imaginary opponent: 0
I know I’m late to this whole thing (it was put in effect on July 10th), but with this past Friday’s Frank Turner release and this Friday’s New Politics release, I’m finally being impacted by this. And it’s a load of bullshite is what it is, nothing more nothing less. I’m not going to tear apart the music industry for wanting a “global standard” as to prevent John In England from uploading an album he bought on Monday so Suzie in Australia can listen to it before it’s released there on Friday, even though no one gives a shite and if she actually liked the music she’d probably buy the album anyway. It’s not like album sales are in rapid decline or anything.
My main gripe with all this just the day of the week. When an album came out on a Tuesday, it was perfect. Spend Monday, the consensus worst day of the week, in anticipation, download/unwrap it Tuesday, have some album fever to get you through the rest of the week.
But now, spend the entire week in anticipation, and listen to it overt he weekend, where you don’t need it to get you through anything because it’s a fucking weekend. Then my Monday, you’ve already listened a million times and you just have to be all miserable all week. Shit like this is what makes people pirate music. I want it when I want it.
