Oasis Documentary From Makers Of “Amy” In The Works

The same filmmakers who created the breathtakingly brilliant documentary Amy, about the iconic British star Amy Winehouse, are about to retell a tale of fame, drugs, anger, acquiesce, more anger, and then more anger – the career of Britpop icons Oasis.

The film will also be produced by Amy producer James Gay Rees, with Amy director Asif Kapadia acting as executive producer and filmmaker Mat Whitecross handling the directorial role.

“Oasis are without a doubt one of the classic British rock bands, selling 70 million albums worldwide and defining the sound of a whole era. At its heart are Liam and Noel Gallagher, two of the finest rock and roll stars this country has ever produced. Mat’s sensibility and style are going to provide the perfect complement to this tale of the rise of one of the great rock and roll bands,” said distributor Independent’s managing director, Andrew Orr.

Noel quit the band in 2009 after he and Liam reportedly were engaged in a brawl before a show in Paris. Liam formed Beady Eye with former Oasis member’s, and their fame reached it’s height when their song “Standing On The Edge Of The Noise” when on EA’s NHL 13 soundtrack. Noel formed Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, who just released a damn-near masterpiece of an album Chasing Yesterday this past spring.

Every time Oasis is in the news, most publications use the same cheesy puns, usually surrounding their song “Don’t Look Back In Anger” or the title of their first album, Definitely Maybe.

So to honor that, I’ll come up with some cheesy names for the currently unnamed documentary.

  • “Don’t Look Back”
    • “Looking Back In Anger”
    • “Look Back”
    • Or simply “Don’t Look Back In Anger”
  • “Cigarettes & Alcohol”
    • “A Lot of Cigarettes & Alcohol”
  • “There We Were, Now Here We Are”
  • “The Stars That Shine” “…Shined(?)”
  • “Don’t Believe The Truth”
  • “When We Faced The Sun”
  • “What’s The Story”
  • “Hey Now!”
  • “We Had The Chance And Threw It Away”
  • “It’s Never Gunna Be The Same”

We’ll cut me off there. I could go forever. And we don’t live that long.

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
