June 16: Brueggers off to Historic Start

In a night full of history, Brueggers & Jamba Juice once again came out on top to start 5-0.

Stoneham Sports Center 40, Honey Dew 24
In a game with both teams trying to turn their seasons around, Stoneham Sports Center (2-2) came out with a huge win. After Honey Dew (1-4) started on an 11-6 run, before SSC was able to clamor down on defense. HD only scored 13 points the rest of the game after defensive packages ranging from zone to man-to-man. Derek Oates was SSC’s best player with 8 points and 7 rebounds. Ty O’Brien (7 points) and Troy Tartarini (7 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists) also had solid games. HD struggled offensively, as Jimmy Sullivan and Zach McGuire led with 8 points. This game is historic as it was the first in league history with 2 technical fouls, and the first technical’s called this season.  Stoneham a Sports Center will play undefeated Brueggers & Jamba Juice on Monday while Honey Dew will face Crown Trophy next Wednesday.
Brueggers & Jamba Juice 48, Eastern Bank 37
With another double digit win, Brueggers & Jamba Juice (5-0) reached the best start in league history. After a close first half, B&JJ was able to pull away from Eastern Bank (1-4). Strong performances from Connor Gilbert (15 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists), Nick Koytikh (15 points, 6 rebounds), and Jon Botelho (12 points, 3 rebounds). EB’s Nick Campbell had his best game of the season with 16 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 assist. Zack Perella put in 10 points and 4 rebounds, while Evan Federico had a monster game with 3 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, and 1 block. B&JJ plays Stoneham Sports Center on Monday while Eastern Bank plays Dockside next Wednesday.
